Question: What could they do to make the Fast and Furious franchise even more awesome than it already is?

Answer: Hire John Cena, of course!

This dream looks close to coming true after Vin Diesel posted a cryptic video to social media that seemingly confirmed the legendary wrestler would be joining the cast for the upcoming ninth film.

The teasing Instagram footage was captioned "Thank you Pablo" (Diesel's affectionate nickname for the late Paul Walker, who tragically died in a car crash with Roger Rodas on 20 November 2013.) and shows Diesel dressed similarly to his iconic character and speaking directly to the camera.

"As you know I’m always thinking Fast, and I’m always thinking about the responsibility of making something iconic and deserving of your loyalty," he says in the emotional clip.

He continues: "I know this sounds crazy but every blue moon I feel like Pablo up there sends me someone, another soldier for the fight for truth.

"Today, someone came by the Toretto Gym that speaks to what Pablo would have brought me," he adds, before panning the camera to show Cena, who is standing behind him, dressed in a blue suit and yellow tie.

The WWE star smiles at the camera and winks, before Vin Diesel finishes up by saying: "All love, always".

Predictably, the video made fans lose their minds, with many turning to social media to share their excitement over the perceived casting announcement.

After Walker's death in 2013, Diesel opened up about what exactly his co-star meant to him, naming him his "other half" in a devastating Facebook post.

Revealing he had immediately jumped on a plane to California to meet Walker's family after hearing of the tragedy, the Avengers: Endgame star said: "I thought they needed my strength, but realized when I got there and broke down before his family, that it was I who needed theirs. His mother hugged me and said I am so sorry... I said sorry? You're the mother who lost a son?... She said yes, but you lost your other half."

The untitled ninth Fast and Furious film is due to be released on April 2020 - we can't wait to see what Vin Diesel and John Cena do with Paul Walker's incredible legacy.
