The movie was not only a critical success, but cemented Reeves as an action star - opening doors to movie series like The Matrix and John Wick. But the movie also catapulted Reeves' female co-star and romantic interest, Sandra Bullock.

Now, in a recent appearance on the Ellen show, Keanu revealed in his interview what we had all been thinking this entire time.

After hearing the revelation, the audience gasped and the host exclaimed: "I can't believe you both had crushes on each other... and you were so scared."

The actions star went on to praise Bullock, now 54, saying: "It was nice to go to work. She's such a wonderful person, such a wonderful actress."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bullock opened up about the pair's chemistry and Reeve's flirtatious behaviour:

”Just to make sure the chemistry was okay between me and Keanu. We had to do all these really physical scenes together, rolling around on the floor and stuff. At one point Keanu stumbled into me and sort of grabbed my butt. I asked him, ‘Are you copping a feel?’ He got all panicky and was like, ‘Nooooo! I wasn’t!’ I was like, ‘Relax, Keanu. Just kidding.'”

It obviously paid off, as the pair were even nominated for the MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss - high praise, indeed!
