After a gruelling two-year wait, Game of Thrones is back in action - with the first episode of the latest season landing on Sunday night.

This season is the eighth and final one we'll get to see - which means some of the episodes are going to be even longer to accommodate for how much plot we've got to get through. Weirdly enough, in that regard, the first episode was pretty light.

The trailer for next week's episode, however, looks very eventful:

The first episode brought us a number of first meetings (Daenerys and Sansa haven't quite started off on the best of terms) and reunions, now that Arya and Bran are back from their respective gap years.

Given how much his family and new girlfriend/aunt/Mother of Dragons don't get on, Jon deserved at least a little relaxation time - something he wasn't getting from Bran's spaced-out stare.

So, he and Daenerys had a little personal time away from the war planning and panic over the rapidly-approaching army of the dead, to go make out in an idyllic little spot only a dragon's ride away.

Jon hopped on Rhaegal for his first time as a dragon rider, and just about pulled it off. But for real life Kit Harington, this experience was a little more uncomfortable.

While there isn't a real-life dragon for him to ride, there is a green screen rig he can ride on set, with the extensive production team on the hit fantasy series making it look a lot cooler by time it hits our screens.

This is effectively a bucking bronco - something that Emilia Clarke has been doing for years as she rode on Drogon. But unfortunately for Kit, his first attempt went a little haywire.

Speaking about the experience in a behind-the-scenes video, it pretty much sounds like every man's worst nightmare, more or less. "Buck work is not easy," the actor said. "I think what sums up the buck for me was there was a bit where Jon almost falls off."

"The dragon swings around really violently, like this, and my right ball got trapped, and I didn’t have time to say ‘Stop!’ And I was being swung around. In my head, I thought, this is how it ends, on this buck, swinging me around by my testicles, literally. Sorry. Probably too much information."

Ouch. Who would've thought riding a dragon was so dangerous?

You can hear him talk about the unfortunate incident here:

The full behind-the-scenes video is worth checking out, delving into all the set antics for the first episode - and with plenty of ridiculous footage of Harington and Clarke riding those dragon contraptions.

But it's not like we need it to get some laughs out of the show, even if it does frequently veer into the gory and grim. After all - we have some incredible memes from the new season already. Thanks, internet.
