'Love Actually' fans left stunned after crazy movie detail emerges 15 years later

Love Actually is a movie that is commonly associated with Christmas so it seems a little bizarre to be writing about it in February. But while the delights of the highs of Christmas may seem like a world away now, there is a reason as to why you're reading about everyone's favourite festive film.

It's been 15 years since Love Actually graced our screen and while the country still waits for Hugh Grant to run as Prime Minister, small details have continued to trickle through about the beloved movie. Such is the appeal that Love Actually has, one fact has just resurfaced online and sent fans into a fluster.

The fact is to do with two of the main cast members of the film: Keira Knightley, who played Juliet and Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who played Sam, the stepson of Daniel (Liam Neeson) and has gone on to be in Game of Thrones.

For those who remember the 2003 movie, Juliet was a mature, grown-up bride who was part of one of the most iconic and goosebump-worthy scenes to have ever hit the screen. You know the one I'm talking about - the 'to me, you are perfect' sign scene.

Then there is Sam; a kid who looks about 10 years old and is fawning over a girl in his class who is going to fly back to America. In order to try and win her heart, he learns how to play the drums so that he can perform at the school Christmas concert.

Given the nature of the two characters, you would expect that there was a pretty big age range between to two actors that played them. I mean, when you look at it, one of them is dealing with the rigmarole that comes with navigating your first crush, while the other is settled down, married and somehow has enough money to live in a beautiful London house (she must be minted!) while juggling a love-triangle with two men.

But while they may seem like an adult and child, there is actually only five years between the actors. Kiera was born 26 March 1985, making her 32 at the time or writing, while Thomas was born 16 May 1990, bringing him to 27 years of age.

It all came to light after Twitter user @reyespidey tweeted photos of the two actors, which has now been retweeted over 30,000 times by other confused, shocked and bamboozled fans of the film.

I mean, while Keira looks a lot older than 18 years old, Thomas literally looks about 5. Unsurprisingly, given the shocking nature of the news, fans on Twitter were left completely shook by the whole ordeal.

If there's one thing to take from this, it's that life comes at you fast. One day, you're a 13-year-old who looks half your age, the next you're 18, married to Chiwetel Ejiofor and having to deal with romantic, if not slightly creepy, advances from Andrew Lincoln.
