Multiple petitions have already been launched to stop Robert Pattinson playing Batman
There are plenty of casting decisions for great movies that have caused many people to go: "Huh? That guy?" - And often long before the movie's release.
The biggest example has probably got to be Heath Ledger, the Australian heartthrob best known for A Knight's Tale and 10 Things I Hate About You, before he was cast as The Joker in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. At the time, everyone thought it was a massive miscast. Then the film came out, and now Ledger is regarded as one of the best actors to ever play the Crown Prince of Crime.
Now it appears as though history is about to repeat itself. Yes, if rumours are to be believed then the new Batman film, written and directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) will star none other than Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne.
However, the news has alienated a number of comics fans, who have already started a number of petitions asking for Pattinson not be cast. For example, one petition (currently boasting 667 signatures as of this writing) states: "Don't make the Batfleck mistake again. Don't do it. For the love of all that is holy, stop trashing the DC Universe."
However, not everyone is so pessimistic. Check out some of the other fan reactions to the casting below:
However, this isn't the only Batman-related movie on the horizon for DC fans. Check out the jaw-dropping trailer for the new Joker film, starring none other than Joaquin Phoenix.
