Since it arrived on our screens back in 2016, the world has been transfixed with Stranger Things. Whether it's the 80s throwbacks that run through the entire series, the hidden "Easter Eggs" that fans of the show like to uncover, or its simply brilliant storyline - Stranger Things has stolen the hearts and minds of the entire planet.

But, much like fans of Game of Thrones, Stranger Things fans are currently stuck in a vacant space. The second series of the show dropped last year and since then, there hasn't been much word of what to expect from season three... until now.

Recently, keen-eyed Stranger Things fans have noticed that the company behind the series, Duffer Brothers, have started advertising for three new roles. It's believed that the three roles will be key characters in the series, with The Hashtag getting the scoop on what their characters will entail.

Firstly there is Mayor Larry Kline, who is portrayed as "a classic, 80's style slick politician". "Kline is described as pathetic and driven only by his own interests. The studio is looking for a male, 40s-60s, to fill the role."

Then, there is a character called "Bruce. A morally compromised news reporter in his 50s, 'Bruce' was described as outwardly sexist, overweight and bedraggled."

Finally, the production company are looking for a female to play the role of Patricia Brown. "Patricia seems to be filing the role of the sweet, neighborhood elder. The studio is looking for a woman in her 70s for the role which will see her spending a lot of time tending to her garden and offering her advice to the neighborhood kids."

Given the nature of the show, we can expect all of these characters to have a significant role to play in some form. I don't doubt that while Ms. Brown may seel like a sweet old lady, she'll have some sort of knowledge of the upside down, with her being much more sinister than her sweet persona may suggest. Although, given the topsy-turvy nature of the program, don't be surprised if they want us to second guess their characters.

It's believed that filming for the next season of Stranger Things will commence in the coming months, but due to the nature of the programme, David Harbour (who plays Jim Hopper) was quick to warn fans that they shouldn't expect to be actually watching the show anytime soon. "I mean, one of the things that's annoying for fans is that it takes us a long time to do them," he said last month. "Like, you probably won't get [season three] until sometime in 2019."

So while we may have to wait another year to see what's going to happen to Eleven and the gang, at least we know there will be some new characters entering the fray. In the meantime, if you're struggling to fill the void left by Stranger Things, why not check out all the genius little things that you may have missed in the second series.
