'Rick and Morty' creator wants to make a movie

While Rick & Morty co-creator Justin Roiland made his name through television, he's made it clear he's interested in expanding into other media in the past.

This year, he's finally going to make the jump into video games with 'Trover Saves the Universe'. It isn't related to Rick Sanchez or his teenage grandson, but it does contain the same level of creative insanity that we know and love the show for.

Check out the trailer for the VR game below:

As part of the celebration of this new game following its release, Roiland took part in a Reddit AMA session to speak with his avid fanbase.

It was there that one fan, user Kev17362, asked: "Will we get a feature length Rick and Morty film ever? A rated R film that's totally bananas?" Roiland replied: "I would love to do that, yeah. Hmm. Hmmmmmm."

While not a confirmation exactly, he did show an enthusiasm to try - and it sounds like his brain is already whirring with ideas.

Whether we're ready for that kind of insanity on such a scale is another question - have you guys seen any of Roiland's earlier work? There was even one animation where a bored mad scientist clones dozens of Bill Cosbys - each with their own quirks and personality traits. And that was one of the most normal ones.

Yeah, those animated shorts have aged...weirdly.

Still, there are a lot of Rick & Morty fans that are happy to see him try it out, with one referencing a previous episode by writing "100 years of Rick and Morty".

Another wrote "Six seasons and a movie! And then four more seasons" - a reference to Rick & Morty co-creator Dan Harmon's show Community. While Community is the one that still technically owes us a movie given the oft-repeated line, it seems like there a lot more people clamouring for a Rick & Morty one.

Meanwhile, the next season of Rick & Morty was recently announced, along with the news that they had signed a deal to make a staggering 70 more episodes of the show for Adult Swim.
