By the beard of Zeus! It's been 14 years since Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy. hit heaters. The surreal comedy lampooned television news anchors, cementing Will Ferrell as a movie star. The rest of the cast - including Steve Carrell, David Koechner, Paul Rudd, and Christina Applegate - also crushed it. Anchorman had everything - hilarious one-liners, an epic fight scene, a bear pit. If you don't think it's classic cinema, you can go back to your home on whore island.

Fans clamored for a sequel for years, and in 2013, they got their wish. In Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, Will Ferrell and director Adam McKay skewered the media once again. This time, Ron Burgundy and his team snag spots on the world's first 24-hour news network, a clever idea for a sequel. Some smelly pirate hookers claimed the film didn't live up to expectations, but I disagree. Anchorman 2 had everything - Ron going blind, an even more epic fight scene, a fried bat restaurant. It's "the chicken of the cave!"

On the five-year anniversary of Anchorman 2, Variety asked Steve Carrell about the possibility of another sequel. "If they make another one, I’ll do another one," said Carrell. "Those are really fun. That’s just hanging out with friends and being silly." Great news, right? I don't know about you, but I'm in glass case of emotion.

In 2017, Will Ferrell told Entertainment Weekly he was open to the possibility of Anchorman 3. "Never say never," said Ferrell. "At the same time, that’s what’s really fun about those characters - it could be 10 years from now and we can still play those guys and just be older… and even dumber. So that’s the beauty of that. There are no imminent plans to return to that as of yet, because, I can’t speak for [director] Adam [McKay], but for myself, we still have a lot of other original ideas that we’d like to do."

But what would Anchorman 3 be about? Nine months ago, Adam McKay revealed he has a brilliant idea. "I can give you like a little half sentence," he told Cinema Blend. "I don't know if you remember the first and even the second Iraq war. Maybe it was mainly the second Iraq war. They embedded journalists and that gave us kind of a whole story idea... I don't want to say too much, but I'll just tell you that embedded journalist, Ron Burgundy, Veronica Corningstone, the news team. That definitely gave us a big idea."

If you're impatient for Anchorman 3, don't worry, because LOUD NOISES are coming early next year. Will Ferrell is launching The Ron Burgundy Podcast, a 12-episode podcast hosted in character as Ron Burgundy. There's no word on which co-stars from the movies will make cameos, but Carrell told Variety he's down to appear. "Sure, if he wants me to come in and say some non-sequiturs as Brick, of course. I would in a second," said Carrell.
