Although last night's episode of Game of Thrones didn't please everyone, there was one big moment that had been hyped for years which definitely delivered. Yes, spoiler alert for those who haven't caught up yet, but I'm talking about Cleganebowl.

Yes, for ages fans have been speculating that Sandor Clegane would fight Ser Robert Strong, i.e. the reanimated corpse of his brother Gregor 'The Mountain' Clegane, brought back to life by the sinister Maester Qyburn. As the two brothers clashed against one another in a brutal melée, fans rejoiced all around the world.

But even more exciting than the fight was the opportunity to see what The Mountain now looked like underneath that helmet.

For the last few seasons, The Mountain has been lurking away from the periphery of the narrative, utterly silent, like some medieval fair version of Darth Vader. But last night, we finally saw the bald menace unmasked, and dear God, it wasn't pretty.

As a result of the poisoning he sustained at the hands of Oberyn Tyrell back in season four, Gregor's pallor is now pale and purplish, with a dark rash over one side of his face and bloodshot, unblinking eyes.

Not only this, but Gregor's already considerable strength and power had been pushed by Qyburn's dark sciences to superhuman levels, making the golem almost invulnerable and unstoppable in single combat.

It was looking bleak when The Mountain threw The Hound into a wall and caved in his face, but Sandor ultimately prevailed in a pyrrhic victory - stabbing his monstrous brother in the eye before plunging them both off steps of the Red Keep to their deaths the raging inferno below.

This is the incredible trailer for the final ever episode of Game of Thrones:

However, despite this, many fans have taken to social media to voice their displeasure with certain inconsistencies in the plot.
