Okay, so after plenty of Captain Marvel and Aquaman to get the engine running, the superhero movie gravy train kicks back into top gear with the brand-new trailer for the latest Avengers film, which we know will be titled Endgame. I'm sorry - is it just me, or did anyone else get shivers just from watching that trailer?

Avengers: Endgame reintroduced us to the characters that we've come to know and love over the past decade. We've got Iron Man, we've got Captain America, we've got Thor, we've got Black Widow, we've got Bruce Banner, we've even got Hawkeye; the six original superheroes from the first Avengers film.

But if you were paying close attention to what was going on in the trailer - especially at the end - you might have noticed something really interesting about Ant-Man, who made a surprise appearance at the very end of the two-and-a-half minute trailer.

Ant-Man, played by Paul Rudd, is always a humorous addition to any film cast, and in the grim, depressing Endgame trailer, his levity was greatly needed. But if you'd just finished watching his last film, Ant-Man and the Wasp, you'd be wondering exactly how he got there in the first place.

If you hadn't seen that last movie, let me refresh you. Ant-Man shrinks to the subatomic level and plunges into the Quantum Realm. For one reason or another, he survives the 'Snap' that kills off so many of our faves at the end of Infinity War, but the people who are meant to bring him out of that Quantum Realm do not survive. So, how'd he get out, exactly?

That's a very good question, and you'd need a very keen eye to answer it. Fortunately, I'm here to explain it to you just in case. Plus, once you realise what might've happened, there could be far-reaching consequences for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole.

But now, let's take a closer look at that screen featuring Ant-Man once more. More importantly, let's look at that top corner: where the eagle-eyed among you might have noticed the world "archive". This implies that the footage happened in the past. So why does Captain America look so shocked?

"Is this old footage?" he asks, while Black Widow (played by Scarlett Johansson) informs him that it's "from the front door". Wait, what? It's all a little complicated, I have to admit, but Ant-Man's appearance is no accident, as we should probably know now from Marvel.

One thing we can say is that whatever happened, Ant-Man found his way out of the Quantum Realm by himself to some extent. How exactly it went down, we don't know, but it might hold the key to not only defeating Thanos, but reversing the effect of his Snap and maybe - just maybe - bringing back all of our favourite heroes.

How will that happen? We've still got no idea. But hopefully we'll get another sprinkling of information in the next trailer. Which I think is for Spider-Man: Far From Home. Exciting times, Marvel fans!
