Henry Cavill has confirmed some exciting news - he is going to be a father!

The 40-year-old, best known for his roles in Netflix's hit shows The Witcher and Enola Holmes, recently opened up about expecting his first child with his girlfriend Natalie Viscuso.

The pair first went Instagram official in 2021, though Cavill ended up having to post another photo a month later addressing haters, who were putting a damper on the situation.

"I am very happy in love, and in life. I’d be enormously grateful if you were happy with me," he wrote. "If you can’t bring yourself to be happy with me, then at the very least try to do yourself proud and be the best version of yourself."

Cavill and Viscuso, 35, then made their debut on the red carpet just a few months later while the actor was promoting his film Enola Holmes 2, in which he starred alongside Millie Bobby Brown, Louis Partridge, and Sam Claflin.

The couple looked head over heels as they posed for photos together, smiling and laughing with each other as the cameras continued to flash.

Now, just over a year later, they are expecting their first child.

Speaking to Access Hollywood during the April 15 premiere of The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, the soon-to-be-dad opened up about his excitement.

"I’m very excited about it. Natalie and I are both very excited about it. I’m sure you'll see much more of that," he said of the announcement.

Have a look at the video below:

Cavill had previously spoken about the prospect of becoming a parent during an interview with Men's Health back in 2017.

"If I ever have kids one day, I want to be the dad who’s running round after them," he told the outlet. "And if I do have kids, even now, it’s starting to get quite late. But I want to be a fit and healthy dad, not hobbling round like, 'OK, I’m just going to catch a breather.'"

"...I’m going to take care of my body - look good, but not smash it," he added.

I don't think there's going to be any hobbling around from Cavill at this point.

Elsewhere, he also emphasized the importance of balance in his life, referring to his lifestyle and overall health.

"My perspective has changed somewhat on the things that I want from life and the enjoyment I can get from it," he said. "I think I’m kind of finding my pace now in more of a lifestyle thing. Like, I can do this training and it’ll make me look a certain way. I’ll make sure my food is right, but I don’t feel like I’m on a diet all the time."

"I can have three cheat days in a row if I want - and then knuckle down, be good for a while and get back to a certain point. You know where your baseline is," he added.

Well, I'm sure with a good routine like that, the star will have no problem juggling his dad duties. Congratulations to the happy couple!
