Kris Jenner’s sister Karen Houghton’s cause of death has been disclosed.

Last month, the 68-year-old reality TV star shared devastating news on her social media, revealing that her sister passed away "unexpectedly" at the age of 65.

Houghton is Jenner's younger and only sibling. The pair's parents are Mary Jo "MJ" Shannon and the late Robert True Houghton, who passed away in 1975.

"My heart aches for my mom MJ and my niece Natalie and I pray that God guides us all through this difficult time," Jenner penned in the post. "Karen was beautiful inside and out. She was the sweetest, kindest, the most sensitive and vulnerable and so so funny."

In her heartbreaking post, Jenner wrote that her sister "holds such a huge part of my heart and I cherish every single memory we have together," adding: "Karen’s passing is a reminder that life is so short and precious and tomorrow is never promised. We must tell those we cherish how much we love them. I love you, my beautiful sister."

As reported by TMZ, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department arrived at Houghton's home around 1:30PM on March 18 after a call was made to the first responders.

They then administered medical aid and lifesaving measures, but they could not revive her. Houghton was cremated the following day on March 19.

According to a death certificate obtained by the publication, the mom-of-one passed away from cardiac arrest and sudden cardiac arrhythmia. The death certificate also documented that Type 2 diabetes was a secondary underlying cause, and noted that she had bipolar disorder.

Jenner's daughter, Kim Kardashian, also paid tribute to her late aunt a few days after her death was announced.

The SKIMS founder captioned the post: "I love you so much auntie Karen" and shared a carousel of heartwarming photos to remember Houghton.

The pictures revealed the late mother with her nieces Khloé, and Kourtney, her nephew Rob, her late father Robert Kardashian Sr., Kardashian Sr.'s cousin Cici Bussey, and her grandmother MJ.

Houghton’s daughter, Natalie Zettel, also spoke out about her mom's passing, writing: "Dear Mommy, I can’t believe you're gone."

"This doesn’t even feel real. I keep hoping that I will get to hug you or kiss you or hear your voice one last time. You were my best friend, my everything. The best mother a daughter could ever ask for and I’m so grateful to have had a mother like you," she added.

Like Jenner and Kardashian's tribute, Zettel's caption was accompanied by a series of photographs of her mom, including one of her embracing her just minutes after she was born.

"You were the most kind, sweet, loving, giving, and caring soul. You had the biggest heart. And I don’t know how to go on without you. It all happened so quick & I wasn’t ready for you to go," she said. "An angel was sent to heaven on March 18th, 2024. I love you mommy and you will forever be missed."

Our thoughts are with Houghton's family and friends at this time.
