It's fair to say that there's been quite a lot of controversy surrounding Ariana Grande and the Grammy's this year. First of all, Variety reported that Grande had dropped out over a dispute about what songs she could perform, with Grande wanting to belt out 7 Rings, while the Grammy producers wanted her to perform a medley of different songs.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich stated: "As it turned out when we finally got the point where we thought maybe it would work, she felt it was too late for her to pull something together for sure. And it’s too bad. She’s a great artist. And I’d love to get her in the show this year. [sic]"

However, on Twitter Grande responded: "I’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me. i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken. it was when my creativity & self-expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend. i hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more ... i offered 3 different songs. it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported. it’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me. [sic]"

Now Grande appears to have reacted angrily to her ex Mac Miller (who tragically died of a drug overdose in September 2018) being snubbed at this year's Grammys. Instead of posthumously winning the Best Rap Album category, Cardi B won instead with her new album Invasion of Privacy. When the big win was announced, the singer posted a series of tweets (which have since been deleted) which seems to show that she was very angry her ex had been ignored. Grande wrote: "f*ck", "trash" and "literal bullsh*t."

When fans on social media seemed to think that this reaction was a bit harsh, Grande clarified that she didn't mean any disrespect to Cardi B; she simply felt disappointed that Miller hadn't been properly acknowledged. She later wrote: "Nothing to do w her. good for her. i promise. i’m sorry ... She's not at all and that's not what I meant and u know that. [sic]"

When Grande herself won an award, she thanked her fans for the accolade by posting a black and white video to Instagram. The video showed Grande tucked up in bed with her pet dog, Myron(whom she adopted from Miller after his death) Grande wrote: "It’s me your tiny, highly emotional, Italian, and now Grammy award-winning friend. I’m super tarnished lol. But super grateful. Thank u for everything. Myron is in my arms n he says hi as well. [sic]"
