Guys, I never thought I'd get to say this for real, but BACKSTREET'S BACK, ALRIGHT!

The '90s heartthrobs made it big more than two decades ago with their upbeat pop tunes and ridiculous haircuts, but they never officially disbanded as a group in the time that has passed since then. They've been through trials and tribulations, lost (and then regained) members, and played shows to countless women who are probably pushing 40 by now - but now they're ready to return to the big time.

Today, the band announced that they're releasing a new album called DNA on January 25th, 2019 (mark it down in your diary, folks), and will be embarking on a world tour to play their new songs.

And, to give us a taste of what's in store, they released the music video for their latest single:

This track isn't exactly the same sort of upbeat tune or impassioned ballad we're used to with "Everybody" or "I Want It That Way", but the Boys' vocals hold up - and it's clear they've done their best to move with the times.

Along with the single release, the band posted this announcement on Instagram:

"Okay, here we go…. #DNAWorldTour 2019! Our tenth album #BSBDNA out January 25th! This era we are exploring each element of our career - spanning 25 years - that have been the building blocks of what we call the Backstreet Boys today! Thank you all for coming on this journey. Things are about to get interesting!!!!!!"

This, of course, sent fans into a bit of a frenzy, with many of them commenting to ask the band to visit their city.

"Can’t wait to see you again! ❤️ Also next year it will be 20 years since my first @backstreetboys concert!" wrote one BSB fan.

"I'm wondering which members of my family I'm going to sell to be able to afford to go to all concerts in Europe," joked another. "LOVE YOU SO MUCH GUYS ???"

"The journey is ongoing with us and there is so much left to do," said band member Brian Littrell. "We're living the next chapter that hasn't been told yet, and that's exciting."

"These songs are a great representation of who we are as individuals and who we are as a group. It's our DNA," added Kevin Richardson, another of the Boys. "We're really proud of that."

So far, the band has released a bunch of tour dates for the USA between July and September next year, with more dates expected to be announced imminently. Tickets don't go on sale until November 14th, but if you want to be in with a shot of landing a good seat to a gig in your city, make sure to set yourself a reminder!

In the words of the princes of pop, then: "Oh my God we're back again/Brothers, sisters, everybody sing/We're gonna bring the flavor show you how".
