Britney Spears really is a legend: one of the biggest names in pop and still smashing it to this day. Other artists like Lady Gaga, Ellie Goulding, Kesha, Lana Del Rey, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry all cite her as a big influence in their music and career choices. Britney was best known for flaunting her good looks and juxtaposing her intense sexuality with her outward innocence. And yet despite her phenomenal talents, for a time the musician was known more for the issues in her personal life than her discography itself.

The trouble first started back in 2004 when she plunged into a downward spiral, with the frenzied media reporting every detail, after she got married to a childhood friend in Las Vegas which lasted less than a week. After this she ended up in a whirlwind romance with her backup dancer, Kevin Federline, despite the fact that Federline's ex-girlfriend was still pregnant with their second child. All this culminated a public mental breakdown, after many nights of partying with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, which ended with her shaving her head, and checking into rehab.

However, since then Britney has managed to make something of a recovery, and nowadays seems far better adjusted than she used to be. She's currently on tour and is having to contend with a certain meme while performing. Currently Britney is being bombarded with calls of "Who is it?" from fans on the stage, after a clip of one fan shouting "it's Britney b*tch!" went viral on social media. It all started when Fan Zachary Gordon went to see her perform at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in New Jersey, and shouted it loudly before Britney performed 'Gimme More' to make himself known, which ended up with Britney going into hysterics.

In a 2010 interview with MTV, music producer Jim Beanz explained the origin of the phrase, stating: [Britney] was basically open to any and everything that I mentioned.  The phrase came last minute right at the end of the session ... We needed that one catch phrase to really bring her back and put her stamp on the industry and that stamp was 'It's Britney, b*tch.'"

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the pop star stated that she has been enjoying the tour, although it has been seriously hard work. She stated: "This round of shows that we are doing on tour, they are back-to-back ... I don't have any time apart besides flying, so it's really just the show itself is going to keep me [in shape]. ... My show is a workout in itself. It keeps you really strong ... It's really important to spread joy. It's contagious. I think that's really sexy for women."

It's good to see that Britney has managed to pull herself back from the brink and make such a stunning comeback. She really is living her best life.
