New video claims to show all the times Conor McGregor 'cheated' in his fight with Khabib
Conor McGregor is a fighter who doesn't let losing deflate his ego. After being beaten by Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 on Saturday, McGregor and his fans have been somewhat humbled, but are already desperate for a rematch. However, the bout has proven to be controversial not just because of who the victor was, but because of the tactics used by McGregor in the cage. Indeed, many viewers claimed that McGregor was actually using a number of illegal moves in the fight against Nurmagomedov; and now a video has emerged on YouTube which claims to prove McGregor's cheating definitively.
The video, which was uploaded by TRiBUTE on October 7, apparently shows McGregor grabbing his opponent’s shorts, kneeing Nurmagomedov in the head while he was on the floor, as well as holding onto the fence with his feet. The video also claims that referee Herb Dean McGregor neglected to reprimand McGregor for these fouls.
The video was captioned: "You can't talk about a man's family, country, call him a rat, break windows of the bus he was in(Assaulting others), tell him he will be killed if he doesn't make weight, etc. And then just pretend it's all part of 'MENTAL WARFARE' when they decide to do something back. I don't cheer for any of that sh*t happening I'm just stating my opinion on how I view it. If you gonna criticize one's actions, don't have favouritism. [sic]"
A number of commentators seemed to agree that McGregor was guilty. One person wrote: "Dana White’s a joke, and is to blame for allowing McGregor to behave this way. McGregor has no respect for the sport, and not an ounce of sportsmanship! So glad Khabib bet his ass fair & square!!! [sic]" while another added: "I tried to tell people this about Conor. He is so loved people were blind to it. Most of his fights he broke the people mentally. Like Aldo and Alvarez. Those guys both were completely beat before they stepped in the cage. Khabib didn’t care about the talk he wanted action."
However, Nurmagomedov doesn't seem to be bothered by McGregor's alleged bad conduct and seems content to gloat over his own victory. On Monday he took to Instagram to taunt Mcgregor, captioning the picture: "[Brother] even now you are slowing down, otherwise I’m uncomfortable for you myself 😁 (I told you, on October 6 I’ll say everything, or did you really want to beat me there?) I apologize to everyone I hurt with our common victory ✊️ And my sincere Fans - you are just in space 🚀 thank you for your incredible support, I love you, yours truly - Habib Nurmagomedov. [sic]"
Yes, it seems as though the rivalry between these two titans isn't about to end anytime soon. I'm sure that McGregor will get the rematch he so desperately craves soon, and he'll be able to test his mettle yet again.
