I can't imagine that O.J Simpson is a man that many people listen to when it comes to life advice. The former footballer is arguably more famed for his misdemeanors off the pitch rather than on it with him having a more than questionable background when it comes to legal issues.

Up until October last year, O.J was is in prison for conspiracy to commit a crime, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery, burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon, two counts of first-degree kidnapping with a deadly weapon, two counts of robbery with use of a deadly weapon and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. So yeah, he's not the best advisor of all time.

This is all without mentioning the two counts of murder that OJ was infamously trialled for and the allegations of battery, drug trafficking and tax avoidance.

But, despite his seemingly slightly-off moral compass, Simpson has decided to weigh into the Colin Kaepernick debate and, unsurprisingly, his opinion is pretty out there.

As I'm sure you're all aware by now, Colin Kaepernick is a highly-talented NFL quarterback who is currently without a team due to the fact that he 'took a knee' during the national anthem as a peaceful protest against police brutality in America.

Despite the fact that his protest was harming absolutely nobody whatsoever, plenty of people (including Donald Trump), scorned Kaepernick and he is now without a club due to the stigma attached to him. Being a man who knows a mistake when he see's one, O.J. had some strong words for Kaepernick and his fellow athletes who also partake in the protest.

"I think Colin made a mistake," Simpson said.

"I really appreciate what he was trying to say. I thought he made a bad choice in attacking the flag.

"I grew up at a time when deacons were in the KKK. I don't disrespect the Bible because of those guys.

"The flag shouldn't be disrespected because of what cops do. The flag represents what we want America to be."

"When he did it the first time, I thought, 'Well, you took a gamble, and I give you credit," Simpson continued.

"But it was him continuing to do it where he made the biggest mistake. I'm a firm believer of doing what you think is right, but I would always stand for the flag."

In all honesty, I doubt Kaepernick is listening to the hot-air coming out of O.J.'s mouth, with much more reputable athletes such as Lebron James lending their support to the former San Francisco 49ers player.

"I love football, but I'm not part of the NFL," James told ESPN.

"I don't represent the NFL. I don't know their rules and regulations. But I do know Kap is getting a wrongdoing. I do know that. Just watching, he's an NFL player.

"He's an NFL player and you see all these other quarterbacks out there and players out there that get all these second and third chances that are nowhere near as talented as him.

"It just feels like he's been blackballed out of the NFL. So, I definitely do not respect that."

Whatever your opinion on Kaepernick, it's hard not to side with James on this one. He's clearly been blackballed out of the NFL and, given that the protest was completely peaceful, it seems a shame to see such a promising career go down the pan.
