The police report filed by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office outlined Mahomes Sr.'s struggles during sobriety tests, including difficulties with eye-tracking, walking in a straight line, turning, and standing on one leg. The arresting officer noted: "I believed Patrick was impaired to a perceptible degree while operating a motor vehicle in a public place."

His vehicle was observed during a routine patrol driving slower than surrounding traffic in the area. After running a registration check on the vehicle police say it showed an expiration date of 2022, per The Post.

This isn't Mahomes Sr.'s first brush with the law regarding drunk driving. As reported by The Guardian, records show that the former New York Mets and Minnesota Twins pitcher was arrested on the same charge in 2019 and was sentenced to 40 days in jail.

Mahomes Sr.'s emotional on-field hug with his son after his first Super Bowl title in 2020 went viral, showcasing the close bond between father and son amidst the highs and lows of professional sports.

The 2024 Super Bowl, LVIII, will take place on February 11 at 6:30PM ET. This highly anticipated showcase will feature the San Francisco 49ers - champions of the National Football Conference (NFC) - taking on the Kansas City Chiefs - who are the American Football Conference (AFC) champions and defending Super Bowl title holders.
