Alexa PenaVega has recently shared some heartbreaking, personal news on social media.

Taking to Instagram yesterday, the 35-year-old former Spy Kids star and her husband, Big Time Rush member Carlos PenaVega, 34, announced that the family is currently mourning the loss of their fourth child.

"There are never the right words to say when it comes to loss," they wrote in their joint statement.

"After a beautiful and peaceful delivery our daughter 'Indy' was born at rest. It has been a painful journey. But in pain we have found peace."

"This little girl has already changed our lives in so many ways," they continued. "She was absolutely beautiful. And looked just like daddy. Dark hair and all. Grief has come to us in waves. Moments of feeling absolutely gutted...then moments of feeling blessed by just getting a moment with her."

The couple went on to state that while they may not understand why this tragedy happened to them, they are eternally grateful for their little girl.

"We can't understand why things like this happen and we may never get those answers. Indy Rex PenaVega, you completely changed our world. You moved us to a new place. You gave us the community we have been longing for.

"We love you can't wait to see how many other lives you change," they concluded.

Many took to the comments to offer some kind words including friends, family and fans.

"So so sorry Alexa and Carlos, can’t begin to imagine what this loss feels like. You are held, loved, and protected and you know that. Praying your pain away," wrote Danielle Monet, who also worked on Nickelodeon at the same time as Carlos.

Daryl Sabara, who starred alongside Alexa in Spy Kids, also added: "Love you so so much."

And of course, the Big Time Rush members also sent their support to their greiving member writing: |Our thoughts and prayers are with your whole family. We love you and you're in our hearts always. Rest in peace, sweet angel."

In November last year, the PenaVegas shared that they were expecting their fourth baby together in a joint Instagram post.

"Thank God we love adventures," the actress wrote alongside photos of the couple cradling her stomach. "Oh baby here we come! Número cuatro!"

She then went on to document her entire pregnancy online, sharing photos, videos and advice with her 1.6 million followers.

In March, she shared a "pregnancy vlog" in which she thanked her nurses for aiding her during a difficult period.

She's also collaborated with Mothering Journal in the final four days before her baby was due.

The PenaVegas also have three other children together, Ocean, 6, and Kingston, 4, and daughter Rio, 2 the first of whom came shortly after they tied the knot in 2014.

Our thoughts are with the couple during this difficult time and we hope they manage to find peace despite their tragic loss.
