On Sunday night, Jaden Smith stunned his audience - but this time, not with his singing.

In the middle of a show, the 20-year-old paused the performance to talk to the crowd, claiming that he was in a relationship with American rapper, Tyler, The Creator.

"I just wanna say Tyler, The Creator is the best friend in the world," he said. "And I love him so f**king much, and I wanna tell you guys something, I wanna tell you, Tyler doesn’t wanna say, but Tyler is my mother f**king boyfriend. And he's been my mother f**king boyfriend my entire life. Tyler, The Creator is my mother f**king boyfriend, it's true!"

The bombshell had the crowd cheering up a storm - that was, aside from his alleged partner, Tyler, The Creator.

As the camera panned to the Yonkers star, he could be spotted wearing a white mask and a red jumper, shaking his head and waving his arms, seemingly not impressed with Jaden's comments.

But his apparent denial couldn't stop the youngest son of Will Smith taking to social media after the show to repeat the claim. Writing on Twitter, he said: "Yup @tylerthecreator I Told Everyone You Can’t Deny It Now (sic)."

The rumour was well and truly in the air, all we had to do was wait for Tyler to confirm it.

The 27-year-old — real name Tyler Gregory Okonma — made his first public comment on the situation on Monday, turning to the comment section on Jaden's tweet to make his voice heard.

However, the Who Dat Boy star neither confirmed or denied the alleged relationship, just writing: "hahaha you a crazy n**** man (sic)".

Jaden has never spoken out about his sexuality before, but in the past has discussed being gender fluid.

Speaking to GQ about challenging gender stereotypes, he claimed that he saw no problem with men and women switching clothes.

"I don’t see man clothes and woman clothes," he said. "I feel like people are kind of confused about gender norms. I feel like people don’t really get it. I’m not saying that I get it, I’m just saying that I’ve never seen any distinction. If I wanna wear a dress, then I will, and that will set the new wave."

As for Tyler, the rapper has been criticised in the past for his use of homophobic slurs in his music. For example, his track A**Milk included the line: "Come take a stab at it, f****t, I pre-ordered your casket".

Despite this, rumours that he is gay or bisexual have circulated for years and lyrics on his 2017 album Flower Boy suggested this could be true.

In I Ain’t Got Time, he raps: "Next line will have ’em like, “Whoa” / I’ve been kissing white boys since 2004."

In addition, in a 2015 interview, he claimed he would "100 per cent go gay for 96 Leo [DiCaprio]", and he once posted a picture of the Hollywood actor with the words "yes boyfriend yes".

In the same year, he tweeted: "I TRIED TO COME OUT THE DAMN CLOSET LIKE FOUR DAYS AGO AND NO ONE CARED HAHAHHAHAHA."

So, are Jaden and Tyler really a couple? Only time will tell.
