Fans have been left shocked after discovering William Shatner's actual age following his recent TV appearance ahead of his birthday.

One of Canada's most prolific stars, the Hollywood actor has enjoyed a remarkable career in front of the camera spanning seven decades.

Shatner is best known for his portrayal of James T. Kirk in the Star Trek franchise, from his 1966 debut as the captain of the Enterprise in the second pilot of the first Star Trek television series to his final appearance in the Star Trek Generations (1994).

Following his Star Trek stardom, the actor featured in various TV shows such as playing the alien "Big Giant Head" in the NBC series 3rd Rock from the Sun, and starring as attorney Denny Crane in the final season of the legal show The Practice and in its spinoff Boston Legal, a role that earned him two Emmy Awards.

And while he's undoubtedly a household name, fans were still left shocked to find out just how old the actor actually is.

On Friday (March 22), the veteran will turn 93, which is very hard for us (and many others) to believe due to his ageless appearance.

Fans voiced their shock at his real age after noticing how fresh he looked in his recent interview with the Today Show, as one user said: "Damn! He’s still sharp and has his hair?! I would have never guessed 93!"

Another user gushed: "William Shatner looks better than most people in their 90s," while a third remarked: "Shatner looks so damn amazing for 93!! Faculties all there! Keep it going!"

A fourth added: "This is stunning and so exciting. I would love nothing better than to think I can be this close to my real self in my 90’s!!!!" Others said they'd have guessed he looks like a man in his 60s or 70s, not one who had gone beyond 90.

Even the interviewers were in awe of the UnXplained actor's age and asked him how he managed to look younger than his actual age. "You’ve got a big birthday coming up – 93 on Friday. That’s amazing! Happy early birthday. What’s the secret to longevity?" they said.

Shatner quipped in response: "Don’t tell anybody [your age]."

Back in 2021, Shatner denied having any cosmetic surgery done during an interview with The Guardian, saying at the time: "Well, I don’t have any secret potions. It must be genetic."

However, he shared his own thoughts on his longevity: "I ride a lot of horses and I’m into the bewilderment of the world, so I open my heart and head into the curiosity of how things work."

He also revealed on Twitter, now known as X, how he was going to be spending his birthday week.

The Star Trek legend clearly has a busy week ahead of him as he wrote on X: " The rest of the week is: work, screening with Q&A, Kimmel, Red Carpet, Party with Kevin Smith, and then cake!"

Happy early birthday Mr. Shatner!
