Air stewardess fulfills dream by asking daughter to pilot her last flight before retirement
Whenever someone asks you how long you've been working for your current employer, are you ever surprised by how long it's been? That's always the case with me - and I see that same surprise when I'm on the other side of the question. However, it's rare to ask someone how long they've worked for so-and-so and hear a number in the double digits.
Yet with this air stewardess, she racked up a huge number: 38 years.
Serving on board Air India for nearly four decades, she more than deserved a good send-off - and that's exactly what she got. On her last shift, she received a round of applause from the passengers, and had her final request fulfilled. Her daughter, Ashrrita, is a pilot for the same airline - and the mother wanted her offspring to be the one to fly the plane on the last flight before she retired.
On Tuesday, Ashrrita shared some photos from the final day, and the heartwarming story went viral. "So happy and honoured to be able to pilot the one flight that mattered," she wrote. "It was my mom’s dream to have me pilot her last flight as an Air Hostess with @airindiain :) As she retires after her glorious 38 years of service, I will be carrying on with her legacy".
Ashrrita also shared a video of her mother, in which you can see the stewardess applauded by the passengers before she is embraced by her daughter.
As you can expect, Twitter was moved by the story.
Even the airline itself, posted a tweet thanking Ashrrita's mother for all her hard work, too.
What a perfect way to bring a career to a close.
