A dad has left social media divided after sharing a video of him and his wife enjoying first class on a flight while their young children were left back in economy.

Many people dream of being able to travel first class, with all the perks that come with the ultra-expensive air fare including fine dining, proper cutlery, and a comfortable bed to recline and sleep in.

If they could afford such luxury, most would take their whole family along for the ride... however, London-based realtor Samuel Leeds, 32, revealed he only pays for him and his wife to sit in first, while his kids get to fly coach with the nanny.

Taking to TikTok, Samuel shared a clip of him waving goodbye to his children before walking past business class and all the way to first class to join his wife, who was happily tucking in to a glass of wine in her comfortable cubicle.

He captioned the clip: "Don’t worry, they were sat with their nanny, dint (sic) spoil your children."

In overlay text on the video, he wrote: "Rich people, don't spoil your kids," adding: "Walking past business class because I earned it."

As he advanced towards the front of the plane, he showed off the lavish dinner spread that was waiting for him in his seat before panning over to his wife, who was seen smiling broadly and holding up a glass of wine.

Adding her justification for earning a seat in first class with him, he wrote: "My wife who helps build the business with me."

The dad-of-two's post divided opinion, with some praising him for teaching his kid the value of money early on, while others were horrified that he and his wife wouldn't give their children the same treatment on their travels.

They commented: "Agreed!! His kids aren’t wealthy he and his wife are. Those kids don’t have jobs or an income," and: "Respect, they will be in first class one day and feel that they earned it."

Others disagreed, writing: "This is so strange to me. Maybe I'm just weird. No matter how rich I was I wouldn't want to be away from my kids on a flight," and: "I think a millionaire could afford 4 tickets...."

Another commented: "Nah. I’ll sit with my kids," while one wrote: "I dunno, seeing the little girl's smile drop as he turned away was pretty sad for mee."

One questioned what the lesson they'd be taught would be, adding: "This is essentially teaching those children that money is more important than family as they didn't want to sit with their kids there too."

Another wondered how far the parents would go to show their kids that only they, who earned the money, would get to enjoy the benefits of it, asking: "Do they have a little cabin next to your mansion? U don’t want them growing up expecting to live in a mansion."

Well, the only benefit is at least the other first class flyers didn't have to put up with kids in their section, but seeing the little girl's smile drop as her dad walked away was pretty sad.
