Traveling to Europe is a luxury that many hope to do at some point in their lives, but after this story, you might want to make sure you have some extra cash on hand just in case.

One woman was left speechless after she was charged an extra €2 ($2.19) to cover washing up duties for the extra plate she asked for her child, despite them not having their own separate meal.

Yeah, you read that right.

The mom was rightfully shocked after seeing her bill add up to a total of €55 ($60), after she, another person, and her child decided to have dinner at Osteria del Cavolo in Finale Ligure, on the Gulf of Genoa in Italy.

While the other items on the list seemed to be pretty standard - though pesto pasta for €18 ($20) is ridiculously overpriced - there was one thing that stood out amongst the rest.

The third line down on the list shows that the establishment charged the customer an extra €2 ($2) to cover the cost of washing up the extra dish that she requested for her three-year-old daughter.

Reposting an image of the bill to Instagram, Italian journalist Selvaggia Lucarelli slammed the restaurant for its behavior.

"Liguria. A plate of pesto trophies 18 euros, the mom asks for a plate to let the three year old girl taste some of it too. They put two euros on the bill for the plate. Among other things, having already taken into account the blanket," she wrote in the caption of the post.

Hundreds of other outraged Italians also took to the comment section to express their opinion on the issue.

"Well the name of the place honestly explains what you’re going to encounter..." wrote one user while another added: "Some restauranteurs think they are smart and instead they are hurting themselves: let's not ask ourselves why the demand for tourist services has dropped by 30%."

A third was also clearly unimpressed at what they were seeing. They wrote: "In Naples, if you ask for an extra dish, they bring you the entire set of 200 pieces of pots plus a latex double mattress and a comfortable bike with a shimano gear shifter, all served by Giorgio Mastrota dressed as a waiter for the occasion."

They continued: "However, it is the whole bill that is embarrassing. Water to drink? You have to thank them for not serving you well water and salmonella. 18 Euro Trophy? I imagine the pesto was made with the knees of the flagellati on Good Friday otherwise there is no explanation. Mind-Blowing."

In response, the owner of the restaurant added: "We made the lady who posted the receipt sit at a table for three, because there were two adults and a child. They ordered only one plate of trofie with pesto and one of fried anchovies and they asked for two saucers to share for both. So they had four saucers in all, not one, and we only charged for one because we pay for the dishwasher and the dishwashing too."

I mean, it seems as though you can monetize anything these days. Be careful out there, guys!
