Just over a week ago, Kylie Jenner sent out a tweet which warned people about the perils of buying fake lip kits online. After a fan from the UK tweeted the 20-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians Star, asking if she had the correct link to her cosmetics store, Kylie responded, letting her known that KylieCostmetics.com is the only place that you can buy her products.

However, in a bizarre twist of fate, on the same day of the tweet, one Kylie fan was hospitalized after she used her friend's fake Kylie Lip Kit Gloss. Rachel McLaughlin, 19, from Northern Ireland, ended up in hospital after the back of her throat closed up, according to her sister Bronagh McLaughlin, who posted about the incident on Facebook.

"Please be aware of fake Kylie Jenner Lip Kits off the internet and Buy and Sell websites. They are not the real thing, they are full of toxins, poisioning agents and superglue as you can see below.

"This is the consequences of a fake Kylie Jenner Lip Kit, which could of ended up with a fatality if not treated as soon as it was, this didn’t just affect the lips but also the whole face and closed over the back of the throat.

"For your own safety and even if you have one already and have small kids around they like opening things please be aware and throw them out DO NOT BUY THEM!!!!!!!!"

The post contained photos of Rachel's lips, which appeared swollen and severely blistered. According to Neeta Ogden, a New Jersey-based allergist who is a spokesperson for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, these are the classic signs of an allergic reaction.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Bronagh said that her sister applied the product at 8pm on a Friday night out and continued to do so until midnight. After noticing the swelling in her lips, Rachel went home and removed the product with her usual face cleanser and toner. According to Bronagh, "there's nothing else that could of provoked the reaction," other than the fake Kylie Jenner lip kit.

When Rachel woke up the next day, her face and lips were incredibly swollen and she felt her throat closing. "I lost all feeling round the bottom of my face and my lips continued to grow bigger from when I first saw them," Rachel told Belfast Live.

The 18-year-old went to Belfast Royal Victoria Hospital on Saturday morning and was given an antibiotic cream as well as an antihistamine to treat the allergic reactions. According to Bronagh, Rachel is "just really upset about it" due to the fact that "her lips are completely gooey and blistering."

The product itself cost $4.22, while the authentic Kylie Jenner Lip Kits cost $29. This should serve as a lesson that if the price of something seems to good to be true, it more than likely is.
