Former 'shy' insurance salesman makes stunning transformation into hunky bearded model
We all care to imagine what the future might hold for us.
Though at times a murky, mysterious, somewhat intimidating place, hope also springs eternal in the future. Just as we like to harp back to the halcyon days of yore, when we would skip merrily through sun soaked vistas with our equally carefree friends, the future also allows us to think wistfully about what might be yet to come.
We cannot, try though we might, change the past, but we can work to shape our own futures. This is why the optimistic among us feel so confident about their own futures, because of the feeling that there is something that we can actively do to alter it.
In our modern society, a higher premium is placed upon beauty than at any other point in our history.
Whether through the filtered corridors of Instagram or on the front covers of glossy magazines, we are confronted with paragons of beauty practically wherever we look.
This can be entirely disheartening thing, especially for women who are expected to conform to impossible beauty standards informed by clever angles and flattering lighting that are all but unachievable in reality.
One man though, has completely turned his life around, and it is all thanks to a change in his appearance.
Gwilym Pugh, from London, has totally changed his life, and it is all done to his growing of a rather magnificent ginger beard.
Previously a shy, overweight insurance salesman, Pugh has lost a reported seven stone and thrust himself into the spotlight as a professional model.
Describing his past, Pugh said;
"At that time I was pretty overweight, working 12 hours a day, plagued with injuries which meant I couldn't train at all.
The business was doing okay, but I decided I needed to get my life in order and wanted to get healthy again."
The biggest differences he made to his diet included cutting down on takeaways and when he quit his desk job, he says, "It was the best thing for my health as I stopped sitting for nine to 10 hours a day".
It would be fair to say that Pugh is nigh on unrecognisable from his insurance sales days, and to cap it all off the Adonis-like model is now an ambassador for David Beckham's male grooming line House 99.
Summing up, Pugh remarks;
"Having worked in finance for years, the opportunity to work with creative people and travel around the world is amazing. But you forget how nuts it is, it all becomes normal."
"I think I'm lucky I got into this profession at the age that I did. I try not to get caught up in it all and my girlfriend helps a great deal wit that."
An amazing story of a man who turned his life around, thanks to hard work, dedication, and an altogether brilliant beard.
