Female powerlifter shares stunning photos of her physique
For many people fitness is a lifestyle rather than a hobby, and it can become pretty addictive. As the world battles its worrying obesity problem (particularly in the West), it seems like more and more people are actively getting into fitness.
There can be no doubt that the rise of social media, particularly Instagram, has a lot to play in this new trend. If you're a regular user of the app, your timeline is more than likely inundated with fitness photos from #TransformationTuesdays through to multiple different uses for an avocado, as people try to encourage their followers to jump on the fitness train.
One particular form of fitness that is getting increasingly popular is weightlifting. What was once a male dominated sector of the fitness industry is now becoming increasingly accessible for women. While the archetypal female body used to be about being excessively slim, it seems that more women are looking for the "strong not skinny" body type these days, with there being an emphasis on muscular curves and washboard abs. One woman who is very much on board with this is Natalia Kuznetsova.
Kuznetsova from Chita, Russia, has shared images of her incredible physique after she took an 18-month hiatus from the sport. The 26-year-old, who started bodybuilding as a teenager, announced her "retirement" last year but has found it difficult to stay away from the sport.
The athlete, who set multiple world records across the sport, said she will now be working as a coach to help others get into the sport and reach their full potential.
"People definitely recognise me."
"An athletic body can be seen under clothes. Many people recognise me, ask to take a photo with them. Many people even know my name."
The imposing athlete revealed that she got into bodybuilding when she was just 14-years-old and weighed as little as 40kg. Kuznetsova says that she originally got into the sport in the hope that she would gain a bit of weight, but she quickly found herself becoming addicted to pumping iron. Now weighing over twice as much, coming in at 90kg, she says that she is looking forward to getting back into lifting weights and going to the gym.
Natalia trains for several hours a day and abides by an extremely strict diet consisting of adding flavoured protein powders to her food rather than spices or sauces. She documents her fitness programme and progress on her Instagram, which currently has over 195,000 followers.
While plenty of the comments on her photos are ones of adulation and positivity, the sportswoman admits that she does face some criticism and hateful comments online, although she says that she has learned to ignore them.
Fair play for Natalia for getting so big and pursuing something she really enjoys. As with all these things, there will always be those who will hate on you. However, looking at the size of her arms, I'm sure she could crush their skulls with consummate ease.
