Ever felt like punching someone in the face? Of course you have! People annoy the hell out of us all on a regular basis, whether it's that snarky colleague at work, or a friend's ex-boyfriend who deserves what's coming to him.

But perhaps a more relevant question is: how often do we actually punch people in the face? For me - and I hope for you too - the answer is never. Personally, I choose to hold in my aggression, seethe in silent anger, before sulking in the corner for the rest of the day.

However, all is about to change with the arrival of public punching bags!

A design studio called donttakethisthewrongway has placed bags throughout New York City for people to take a swing and relieve some built-up tension.

The bright yellow bags were placed on the corner of Spring St. and Thompson St. on May 18 and more later cropped up across the city for New York City Design Week 2019. They feature an image of a fist and read: "Public punching bag. Use at your own risk. A healthy place for frustrations."

Speaking out about their decision to place the punching bags around the Big Apple, the Georgia-based design studio claimed it was to encourage people to address their emotions in a healthy manner.

"The concept explores designing common spaces for the frustrations we all face," they said. "Frustrations that go beyond designed systems and happen, well, because we are human. The public punching bag offers an outlet for these emotions as a means to maybe develop a healthier way to address personal and collective issues in a public setting."

So New Yorkers - next time you're about to lose your temper after a bad break-up, awful landlord or the price of a pint of beer, you know where to go. Let's hope these bad boys are rolled out in other cities soon!
