You may have tuned in to see Sean Milliken when he starred in an episode of the reality series My 600lb life in 2016, weighing a stunning 900lbs at the time. Now, his father has confirmed that he has passed away after suffering complications from an infection at the age of 29.

Milliken spoke about being overweight in the episode, filmed in his California home, and how he had used eating as a coping mechanism. "So I would eat. And suddenly I felt a lot better," Milliken said during the episode. "In that moment, nothing else mattered."

"Every day I wake up I have to face the reality of what my life has become. I am so big now; I can hardly move. All I can do on my own is skooch to the end of my bed, go to the bathroom and see if my mom is awake."

His mother, Renee, also appeared to explain how much care her son needed in his current state. "Sean has gotten so big," she said. "I can't handle cleaning him on my own anymore, and it is really important that he stays clean because he gets open sores really easily."

TLC later caught up with Sean in Summer 2018, during the show 'My 600-lb. Life: Where are They Now?'. At that point, he was dealing with the unexpected death of his mother.

"A couple of months ago my mom went to the hospital because she wasn’t feeling well, and she just kept getting worse," Milliken said during this episode. "She passed away a couple weeks ago and I’m devastated, and I don’t know what to do now because my mom was everything to me."

However, despite the loss of his mother, he said he was "still continuing in his quest to live a healthier and happier life". And, after losing over 400 lbs, it seemed like he was on his way to recovering his health. However, as confirmed by his father in a Facebook post this week, he has passed away.

His father, Matt, confirmed that he had died in a Texas hospital on Sunday after suffering complications from an infection.

"Sunday he was having problems with his breathing, they were able to resuscitate him and a short time later his heart stopped," Matt explained. The Network on which his episode aired, TLC, also paid tribute to Sean.

"TLC is saddened to share that Sean Milliken has passed away," their statement read. "TLC expresses its deepest sympathies to Sean’s friends and family at this difficult time."

Others commented to wish his family well, and find some solace in the fact he will now be reunited with his mother. "Rest In Peace Sean. You and Mom are together again. Prayers for his family," one user wrote, while another added: "God bless you Sean . May you Rest In Peace with your Mom."
