New Oxford University study claims women with big butts are smarter and healthier
As well known philosopher Sir Mix-A-Lot once said: "I like big butts and I can not lie, you other brothers can't deny, that when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist and a round thing in your face, you get sprung". And it turns out he was on to something, as new research from the well-respected Oxford University has claimed that women with big butts have more brains.
While we may think about big bootys purely being a thing of beauty that has been sexualized by the media across the past few years, it actually turns out they are more useful than initially thought, with delightful derrieres having a positive effect on a woman's body that reaches beyond purely an aesthetic appeal.
The study in question analyzed data from over 16,000 women, and found that ladies who have a little bit more junk in their trunk are not only more resistant to chronic illness, but they are more intelligent than their less endowed counterparts.
Apparently, those women who have a more substantial derriere have lower cholesterol and glucose levels, in addition to higher levels of Omega 3 fatty acids. Not only this, but these women also have a higher amount of a hormone called dinopectina, which has anti-diabetic and anti-inflammatory properties. Put those things in a mixing bowl and blend it together, and you get the perfect combination for keeping the heart healthy.
That's not all, though! The higher levels of Omega 3 that you can find in these substantial asses aids a nice, healthy, working brain and the amount of adipose tissue found in a bigger booty means that it traps any harmful fats, therefore reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. So there's a hell of a lot of health benefits to having a colossal ass.
Lead researcher Dr. Konstantinos Manolopoulous said, "The idea that body fat distribution is important to health has been known for some time. However, it is only very recently that thigh fat and a large hip circumference have been shown to promote health; that lower body fat is protective by itself."
So it's good news for all the Beyoncés and Kim Kardashians of this world, and another reason for women to indulge in an extra cookie or two if they want to (brain food!).
While the common depiction of beauty used to be of stick thin models with size zero waists, this seems to be shifting in recent times. Fuller figures are the in thing, with there being plenty of "booty building" exercise regimes to help women build up some mass on their butt as well as body positive bloggers teaching self love and imploring women to embrace their curves and the bodies that they have been given.
However, don't take this too literally. If you're stupid, you won't suddenly become clever by building your butt, that isn't how it works unfortunately. Still though, it good news for all those women with big bums.
