Woman with the world's biggest butt says she is proud of her figure

In a world where the issue of body-positivity and curvaceous figures are a regular subject of discussion, one woman has laid claim to having the world's biggest butt. However, unlike the woman who holds the world's biggest breasts, this woman's derriere is au naturel.

Instagram is awash with plus-size models and fitness bloggers who are trying to change society's collective mind when it comes to the 'ideal' female figure. While it used to be the aspiration for many young girls to be skinny, size-zero, catwalk models, the likes of Iskra Lawrence and Tess Holliday are doing all that they can to change this. Both models may differ vastly in their appearance, their message is unanimous - love the skin your in and own your body.

Mikel Ruffinelli is a woman who also appears to buy into this message.

The mother, who weighs 29 stone and stands at 5ft 54in tall, claims that she is proud of her shape and that she doesn't feel any need to diet or lose any weight. The 39-year-old's bum measures in at a whopping eight feet in circumference and she now holds the world record for the largest hips on the planet.

Speaking about her love of her figure, Ruffinelli said:

"Men don’t fancy skinny girls, they like an hourglass figure

"I’m extreme, I have an extreme physique. I love my curves, I love my hips and I love my assets."

"I think it's very feminine to have curves. It makes us womanly, it makes us beautiful.

"I rather be this size and happy, with me loving me, than to be skinny, that size, and be unhappy."

It turns out that Mikel isn't the only person who is fond of her shape, her husband, Reggie, is also a fan, adding: "I tell people all the time: I have a license to work with heavy equipment."

However, Ruffinelli's daughter Destynee has her doubts about her mother's well-being and said that she has health fears regarding her 99-inch hips.

"I don't mind following her footsteps, but I don't really want to because I see how her struggle is.

"If she stands up for a certain amount of time, she starts to hurt. And it kind of hurts me to see her struggle."

Ruffinelli lives in Los Angeles, US, and has appeared on reality TV shows regarding her sizeable asset. She has admitted that despite being comfortable in her own skin, she does has difficulty using the shower and claims that people often point at her and whisper when they see her walking down the street.

While it's undoubtedly a good thing that Mikel loves her size and her shape, the ramifications that it is having on her health and well-being should probably be factored in with a bit more severity. As she says though, she is a woman of extremes and in general, the body-positivity movement is having a beneficial effect on women's body confidence - and for that, it should be applauded.
