'Instaception' is the bizarre new viral beauty trend sweeping the globe
Beauty trends, they come and they go, eh? In the past year, we've seen everything from unicorn hair and glitter tears to McDonalds eyebrows and nose hair extensions, and these weird and wacky fashions show no sign of slowing down.
Case in point: "Instaception" is the latest make up trend that's taking over social media, and boy is it meta. It involves makeup artists and beauty influencers creating tiny, perfect Instagram posts on their face, and then posting a snap of that "Insta post" to the platform itself. Wacky, right?
The results are stunning, and they highlight just how much work goes into the beauty looks we see on the 'Gram day after day. After all, it is a space where we only ever see the "end result".
Created by beauty blogger, Dom Ski, the Instagram "frames" even have like, comment and share buttons painted onto them. "Picture perfect, I had this idea stuck in my head for a while now, didn't execute it as well as I could have but oh well," Dom captioned the initial picture of his artwork.
Now, social media has gone crazy for "Instaception", and some of our favourite beauty influencers have been experimenting the style.
One user revealed that she tried out the trend for an important, personal reason. "I...really wanted to do this trend because it meant something that I [look] a little differently," she explained. "It kind of embodies the pressure of being perfect on social media and never having any flaws, when in reality, we’re all flawed. We all have imperfections. That’s what makes everyone so individualistic. Embrace them!"
I mean, aren't they just stunning?
Now, this is one trend that we can get behind...
