If there's one place you don't want to run into any problems, it's on an airplane.

From crying babies to being trapped in a middle seat, what is supposed to be a relaxing journey can quickly turn into hours of hell as one man on a SpiceJet realized after he got trapped in the one place you really don't want to spend a second longer than you have to - the aircraft's toilet.

Going to the toilet on an airplane is not something many people look forward to, but most get to be in and out of there in just a few moments after doing their business.

One man found he was trapped in the enclosed space for an entire plane journey - and the cabin crew could do nothing to get him out, besides passing him a note under the door telling him not to "panic" and they they had "done their best".

Indian Express reported that the anonymous flyer went to use the lavatory shortly after takeoff on a one-hour-and-45-minute night flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru on Tuesday at approximately 2AM, but when he tried to leave the tiny stall, he was shocked to find that it wouldn't open.

And what was the issue? A dodgy door lock.

Crew members and even passengers rallied around to try and free the man but to no avail; He remained trapped in there for the entire journey.

Thank God it wasn't a long-haul flight!

In order to make his ordeal more comfortable, it was said that the crew members tried their best to keep in constant communication with the man while also offering him a note under the door.

"Sir we tried our best to open the door, however, we could not," the note written by an air hostess aboard the flight read. "Do not panic. We are landing in a few minutes, so please close the commode lid and sit on it and secure yourself. As soon as the main door is open, an engineer will come."

They then reiterated: "Do not panic."

When the flight landed in Bengaluru at around 03.42AM, help came in the form of engineers who broke open the door and rescued the trapped passenger.

In the wake of the dramatic incident, SpiceJet released a statement addressing what happened.

"On 16 January, a passenger unfortunately got stuck inside the lavatory for about an hour on SpiceJet flight operating from Mumbai to Bengaluru, while the aircraft was airborne due to a malfunction in the door lock," the budget airline wrote in a statement.

It continued: "Throughout the journey, our crew provided assistance and guidance to the passenger. Upon arrival, an engineer opened the lavatory door."

They then stated that the passenger received "immediate medical support" before adding: "SpiceJet regrets and apologizes for the inconvenience caused to the passenger. The passenger is being provided a full refund."

I mean, that should help a little, right?
