The internet gets a bad reputation at times, and it’s easy to see why (even if you don’t have your contact lenses in). It does however have some pretty amazing upsides.

Whether it's being able to watch cute cat videos over and over again on YouTube, or scrolling through endless memes on Twitter, the internet has given us plenty of good times since its inception in 1983.

Although talented cats playing pianos are all well and good, the internet has also become synonymous for bringing people together. Some of the best videos I've ever seen are ones that show people going the extra mile to reunite after a lengthy time apart. Contact lense retailer Vision Direct are the kings and queens of going the extra mile for their customers, so it’s only fitting that they’ve brought you these classic family reunion videos. Enjoy!

4. The power of a single Facebook post

Back in March 2014 Katheryn Deprill’s Facebook plea was shared more than 33,000 times. Thankfully one of the many people to see it was her biological mother, Cathy Pochek. “She left me somewhere she knew I’d be found,” Deprill (nicknamed the “Burger King baby”) told CNN affiliate WFMZ. “She did not want to throw me away.”

Somebody pass the tissues, because that last one really got me…

All jokes aside, the internet is a powerful tool when it comes to reuniting people, and connecting loved ones who are forced miles apart. It's amazing to share in these unique reunions - I mean, isn’t this really what the internet is all about?
