You can now celebrate Valentine's Day at Hogwarts and it looks magical
Depending on what stage you are at in life, Valentine's Day can either be a paroxysm of candles, roses and other such unpleasantries, or a reminder of just how alone you are. And chances are that we have all experienced both.
When in the throes of love, there's nothing more affirming than having your significant other hand over their hard earned money in order to shower you with lovely, albeit unnecessary gifts. However, when you're single and have to watch all your loved-up friends and colleagues prance around come February 14th, waxing lyrical about how dreamy their partner is and how their choice of restaurant and flowers somehow trumped last year's blowout, there's nothing worse.
However, lonely hearts of the world, don't fear - I have something that will make you feel even more alone: this year people can commemorate Valentine's Day at Hogwarts.
Yes, you heard that correctly. Loved-up couples have been invited to spend the Valentine's weekend in a rather magical location this year, as Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is hosting a romantic dinner in the legendary Great Hall.
On Friday 9th and Saturday 10th February, guests attending the special evening affair will be greeted with canapés and drinks, including the all-too-familiar sounding "love potion" cocktail, before being seated to dine on an authentic Great Hall menu, where their chosen wand will be waiting for them.
Seated at tables for two, couples will enjoy a three-course meal. Items on the set menu include pressed chicken terrine, roast rack of lamb and ricotta gnocchi with chive butter. And those who have a sweet tooth won't be left disappointed, as there will be a sharing platter of desserts, which include a mango and passionfruit delicé, as well as a raspberry and amaretto tart.
Warner Bros. continues:
"After dinner, guests will be given exclusive after-hours access to the Studio Tour with the chance to see sets such as the Gryffindor common room, Dumbledore's office, the Weasley kitchen at The Burrow and the Forbidden Forest before enjoying a drink on Platform 9¾. Featuring the original Hogwarts Express locomotive, the platform also includes the costumes of film couples Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione from the series' concluding scene set 19 years after the battle of Hogwarts.
Following a tankard of Butterbeer in the backlot café, couples will be able to wander up the wizarding shopping street of Diagon Alley before arriving at the breath-taking Hogwarts castle model. After-dinner tea, coffee and petit fours will be served overlooking the majestic model."
Now, I don't know about you, but that sounds seriously dreamy. And look, if you don't have a partner, you could always go with a friend, I mean, who needs true love, after all?
Tickets will be available for online purchase on the 19th of December at 10am. The festivities will take place from 7pm until midnight, and the event is priced at £495 per table for two.
