First, there was the girl who killed her boyfriend by firing a gun at an encyclopedia he was holding, then, there was the man who ended up paying an eye-watering amount of money for a un-funny prank in which he kicked a woman, and now there is this.

19-year-old Jordan, otherwise known as Rodney, has gone viral on Twitter after he told his girlfriend that he had kissed another girl, thinking it was a funny April Fool's joke. Rodney thought that he would simply wind his girlfriend up a bit, before confessing his undying love for her.

So, taking to his phone to begin the prank, he messaged her, saying: "I'm just gonna be honest with you... I kissed another girl yesterday."

Of course, his girlfriend initially reacted in a panic, asking; "Your [sic] playing right? How? When? Why? Where?"

Rodney decided to ignore his girlfriend, leading to her revealing that she had also slept with someone else, something which came as a surprise to him.

"I was just trying to do a regular April fool’s prank and it backfired," he said.

"She said she was at a party the night before and got drunk and apparently slept with some guy and her best friend slept with some guy too in the same room so I think that was their intentions.

Made me feel like complete s**t. I’m questioning if I even wanna be in a relationship anymore now, and we have separated and have not spoken since.

At this point, there is nothing left to say. No, she hasn’t said anything. But I think she is probably mad at all the attention she would be getting if people knew who she was."

His girlfriend went on to write:

"I don’t think we’re good for each other so this time we are really done. Have a good life Rodney. I was drunk and one thing led to another and it just happened."

After Rodney accused her of lying, she said:

"I wish I was…when it was over I started thinking of you and us and how or if I was going to tell you, I’m so sorry. I’m sorry Rodney it really was an accident and I hope we can work through this."

Rodney posted the screenshots on Twitter and they quickly went viral, with the tweet receiving over 25,000 retweets and 60,000 likes.

The hapless lover captioned the post "April Fools is fu***ng cancelled."

Plenty of people were focusing on his final response.

However, one user perfectly summed up the entire ordeal, saying:

"King imagine you never tried the April fools prank, you would have been kissing her with some dudes sperm in her mouth, I’ll pray for you brother stay strong."

Jordan says that he will now aim to "make sure I don't get cheated on again."

So, while it may have been his prank that backfired, it turns out that Rodney had a pretty lucky escape and got away from a cheater.
