Man divorces wife after seeing her cheating with another man on Google Maps
There's absolutely no denying that Google Maps has made life a whole lot easier for all of us. Who knows how we managed to go from A to B before it was invented? I mean, before it ever existed, the mere concept of it would have seemed pretty insane. An easily accessible web service that uses satellite imagery and 360° panoramic views of streets to emulate how we would get to a certain place in real life? How unlikely does that sound? And yet it exists for every single internet user.
We definitely take for granted that our ability to find even the most obscure of places is always right there in our pockets. So on behalf of everyone out there with an embarrassingly poor sense of direction, I have to say I'm extremely grateful for Google Maps.
But I'm guessing one particular Peruvian woman isn't feeling particularly thankful for the service after she was caught redhanded having an affair in images captured by Google's Street View feature.
Yes, she has since become a divorcee after she was spotted by her husband cuddling with another man in the following images.
They were captured back in 2013 around Puente de Los Suspiros de Barranco (the Bridge of Sighs) in Lima, Peru but it was only recently that they were posted online.
The woman's husband was trying to check the best way to get to a bridge in the Peruvian capital city of Lima when he spotted his wife with a mystery man, reports claim. The image, which can still be found on Google Maps, shows the woman sitting on a bench with a man lying down beside her while he rests his head in her lap, as she appears to lovingly stroke his hair.
According to the Daily Mail, the woman's now ex-husband recognized what she was wearing and soon enough, realized she was, in fact, his wife. He then confronted his wife about her apparent unfaithfulness and this eventually led to the breakdown of their marriage. She confessed to cheating on him and the pair eventually got a divorce.
The husband later shared the damning images on his Facebook page and, as a result, the woman was condemned for disloyalty.
One Facebook user commented: "What a small world it is... It would have been enough if she said to her husband that she did not love him anymore." While another wrote: "Out of 100 women, 90 percent are not loyal, the rest are loyal and only have one eye (hahaha) or are immortal (hahaha)."
And this certainly isn't the first time an image on Google Maps has sparked public interest in the person featured in the image.
One pretty horrifying picture showed a young girl laying face down on the road with one of her shoes next to her foot, rather than on it.
She is the only person who can be seen in the picture taken on a street in St John’s, a suburb in Worcester, England. The image was first brought to public attention back in 2010 when locals noticed it, horrified to see the little girl hurt.
The incident was then reported to the police who started an investigation into what seemed to be a crime scene. It was revealed that the little girl was nine-year-old Azura Beebeejaun and fortunately, was completely fine.
It then emerged that the "incident" was entirely innocuous. Azura was simply playing a game with some friends when the Google car passed by. She was totally unaware that the vehicle was even there and was playing dead after falling over.
I guess with this sort of thing, it's very easy to jump to conclusions and assume the worst possible outcome, but it's always pretty heartwarming when people show concern for others.
In terms of the cheating incident being caught on Street View; I guess for many, it's a pretty uncomfortable thought that our every move could potentially be captured by a major tech company like Google. But that's the tech-savvy world in which we live.
