Sometimes it's received gracefully, other times the comment is rejected outright. But no matter what reception the flirtatious behaviour warrants, it's almost always a case of too much information for the rest of us.

Strangely enough, it seems as though certain celebrities aren't immune to this phenomenon, and there have been a few times over the years that fans and followers have witnessed celebrities making a public pass at each other on social media. Sometimes it can confirm long-running rumours and speculation, while other times the flirting seems to come completely out-of-the-blue; just like the following example.

This week, the Instagram account Comments By Celebrities drew attention to a certain interaction between former One Direction member Liam Payne and model, actress and singer Naomi Campbell. After Naomi took a selfie and uploaded it to Instagram, Liam himself commented: "Perfection in a person ? ... don't give me those eyes ??." As if that wasn't enough, Liam later uploaded a topless selfie to Instagram, and Naomi returned the favour by writing: "Beautiful Soul ❤️", to which Liam replied, "takes one to know one ?." Needless to say, many people got a whiff of serious sexual tension from these remarks.

Predictably, social media users have been left pretty shaken by the sexually-charged interaction, and have been very vocal about their feelings. For example, one Twitter-user wrote: "Never in a million years would i have thought THE Liam Payne and THE Naomi Campbell would cross paths romantically, [sic]" while another person added: "I'm sorry but Liam Payne and THE ONE AND ONLY NAOMI CAMPBELL!? I- that's a bomb ass couple. [sic]"

As shocking as the comments are, Payne and Campbell are rumoured to have already been intimate with each other. According to British tabloid newspaper The Sun, and inside source reported that the two of them hooked up while they ­celebrated New Year’s Eve at a beach party together.

The source claimed "Liam and Naomi had a great time there. They used the time to get to know each other properly, away from prying eyes back home, and partied until 6am on the beach. Their closeness raised eyebrows as they are such an unlikely pair and people struggled to believe it, but there is a real attraction between them. Now they have even decided to go ­public with their ­affection for each other — so it could become ­something more serious."

Thus far, neither Liam nor Naomi have commented on these rumours, or officially confirmed/denied that they are in a relationship. I guess we'll just have to wait and see whether they make things official.
