Unsuspecting groom gets cheeky surprise when he turns to see bride for the first time
When you tie the knot, you want to be sure that you're marrying the right person. Will they love you unconditionally till death do you part? Will they keep you smiling even on your darkest days? Will they honor and respect you? These are questions that even the most committed couples can have about their spouse-to-be moments before they say 'I do'.
No doubt a variation of these questions were running through the mind of David Hofmann as he waited to take a 'first look' at his wife-to-be, Brianne. The 'first look' is a wedding tradition that sees the bride reveal herself to her husband-to-be moments before they walk down the aisle, and needless to say, it's usually a moment filled with happy tears.
However, nothing could have prepared Hofmann, an electrician from Marysville, Washington, for what he was about to see when he turned around...

Rather than seeing his stunning bride, Hofmann got the fright of his life when he spotted his bearded best man, Timmy Horton, in a white gown and veil.
"Right in that moment I was anxious," recalls Hofmann. "I was trying to calm my nerves because I was about to see my bride for the first time. I was expecting to see Brianne and I turned around to see Timmy in a wedding dress. He was pale and hairy."
"We love each other very much but not in that way... I was falling down laughing," he added.
The prank was plotted by Timmy, who wanted to trick his best friend on his big day. Brianne was initially reluctant to approve the plan, but Timmy managed to persuade her.

"I really wanted a serious ceremony at first," says Brianne. "I didn't want any of their shenanigans on the day, but a few months down the road I changed my mind."
So, with the approval he needed, Timmy slipped into a spare bridal gown and veil. "I was really nervous and anxious because it's my best friend and I love the bride and groom so much," he says. "When it happened, I just couldn't restrain myself and I burst out laughing. I think it really broke the ice and the tension."
The comical moment was caught on camera by wedding photographer, Anna Morrison, who'd been employed to take the official 'first look' pictures of Hofmann and Brianne.
Once Timmy's prank was over, Hofmann was able to get a proper look at his bride.
"It was very funny and then I got to do the real first look. Brianne has always been beautiful so I didn't expect anything less," he says. "There had been so much building up to that moment that when I first saw her, all of a sudden I just felt complete. I'll remember the day and that moment forever."
The couple went on to tie the knot on November 17, and Brianne didn't regret a thing. "When I look at the photos I'm really happy. I'm so glad we did it. It was hilarious," she says.
