Maybe it's because the royal wedding was such a smash hit, but 2018 has felt like a good year to get hitched. Seriously, couples all over the world seem to have been buoyed up by the romance of it all, and have thus decided to seal the deal by putting a ring on it. We've had beautiful brides and handsome grooms declare their love for each other, and more than a few celebrities have pledged to get married in the near future.

However, not everyone's wedding has gone quite so swimmingly, as this next post proves. A woman who hails from Australia (who gave herself the pseudonym 'Casey') has written about how, after she discovered that her fiancé had been cheating on her, she decided to seek revenge upon him with a brutal, and public, humiliation at their wedding ceremony.

In a personal essay written on the women's website Whimn, the bride described how an anonymous person sent a number of screenshots to her phone the night before her wedding, which showed all the illicit conversations her husband-to-be had had with his secret mistress, followed by a text which read "I wouldn't marry him. Will you?" Poor Casey burst into tears while her bridesmaids rallied around her, "threatening all kinds of violence against him".

The messages Casey saw in the screenshots included phrases like "This weekend. You and I. It is on, hot stuff. Bring your A game", and "Your body is f*cking incredible. And sh*t do you know how to use it. I wish my GF had half the skills you do", and  "I miss you so much. I can’t stop thinking about L, S, F’ing you. I’ve never had this kind of connection before. [sic]”

At first, Casey stated that she intended to call the wedding off, but she decided to get her own back. The next day, she walked down the aisle, stood at the altar and revealed the sordid details of her fiancé's affair to her whole congregation. Casey stated: "There will be no wedding today It seems Alex is not who I thought he was. I love all of you and as horrible as this is I’m glad you all are here. There will not be a wedding reception today, but instead, there will be a celebration of honesty, finding true love and following your heart even when it hurts.”

Casey described how her disgraced boyfriend was left to slink dejectedly away from the crowds with his ashamed best man in tow. Although she felt terrible to have had the best day of her life ruined by her man's infidelity, she was happy that justice had prevailed in the end. That night she and her girlfriends raised the roof with an incredible party. Personally, I think she handled that nasty shock pretty well, and I'm sure that she'll bounce back from it in the near future.
