Airbnb has revolutionized the hotel industry. Now, it's possible to stay in some truly incredible homes for a fraction of what their hotel counterparts might have charged in the not so distant past. In short, it's empowered homeowners and holidaymakers alike.

And the latest Airbnb to catch people's eyes is truly out of this world... as in, you'd normally find it on a plate, or in the ground, because it's a giant potato. Yes, seriously.

Contrary to what you might think, however, the giant potato isn't on the Emerald Isle, but in Idaho.

Costing $200 a night to stay in, the giant potato, unsurprisingly, isn't a giant potato but a six-ton structure made from steel, plaster, and concrete, plonked, as you'd expect, in the middle of a field.

The potato Airbnb comes with views over the Owyhee Mountains in Boise, Idaho.

And while its interior might not be a hardcore starch lover's dream, it's actually really beautiful - and stylish.

Inside, there's a small bathroom, kitchenette, fireplace, and air-conditioning. Understandably, it's on the smaller side and sleeps two people in its queen-size bed.

But while the potato might look it was made to be an Airbnb, it was actually first created to by the Idaho Potato Commission to - you guessed it - promote the noble spud.

The giant potato spent the first six years of its life touring the US on the back of a truck. After that, the Potato Commission didn't know what to do with it, then small home developer Kristie Wolfe suggested turning it into an Airbnb and here we are.

In addition to the $200 nightly fee, there's a $31 service fee and $16 worth of occupancy taxes and fees, meaning that it will set you back $247 to live out the ultimate potato lover's dream.
