Nanny job pays $130k, and includes the use of a Maserati and a personal chef
What would you do if I told you that there is currently a job being advertised that pays $130,000 a year and involves travelling between Barbados, London, Cape Town and Atlanta? What if I then told you that all of your meals would be cooked by a Michelin star chef? It's sounding pretty good, right?
Okay, now add into the mix that you also get to drive around in a Porsche, Range Rover and a Maserati? I know what you're thinking: "where do I sign up?" But first, there's a catch, and a really big one: this dream job involves working with kids.
Yep, kids. The worst things in the world. The job in question is to be a full-time nanny for a seemingly wealthy family with four children. The family posted the ad on a child care website and are looking for a highly qualified nanny, who has a degree in child psychology and a minimum of 15 years experience in the field.
Opening the advert with the experience that they require, the family then go on to outline some of the logistics of the job, including regular international flights.
"We are looking for a highly qualified nanny who has a degree in child psychology, no children of their own and a minimum of 15 years of nannying experience. The candidate must be willing to work six days a week, 7am to 8pm. We have four homes in London, Barbados, Cape Town and Atlanta. The applicant therefore must be comfortable with flying regularly, as they may be required to travel internationally up to three times a week, depending where the children are."
The advert goes on to say that the children are homeschooled, so will require assistance throughout the day, meaning it will a fairly demanding job. However, despite the long hours and demanding schedule, there are plenty of perks that come with the job.
"We’d prefer our nanny to eat with the children at every meal, which will be cooked for them by a Michelin star chef, however this isn’t mandatory. We have multiple cars including a Porsche, Range Rover and Maserati which are available for the candidate to use – we expect the nanny to run errands and take the children to various daily appointments. A clean UK driving license is a must. My husband and I are often absent due to work and social commitments, but when we are home we like to have time alone with our children. Therefore, there will be periods where we ask our nanny to take leave to allow us to have quality time as a family."
The family say that they don't mind what the nanny does in their spare time, but binge drinking and drug taking are strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate dismissal. They also ask that the nanny be trained in self-defence, but this is not essential, as they will offer non-negotiable training in this.
The family say they have received over 300 applications since posting the job online and are asking that people do not apply, unless the meet all of the required expectations.
So, if you've got plenty of experience, love flying and good food, and also want to become a full-certified ninja, this is the role for you. However, it does involve working with children, so probably best to leave it, really.
