As bizarre as it sounds, this is exactly what happened recently. Last Monday, a woman was caught on camera shaving her legs in front of hundreds of commuters at a busy New York subway station.

In the footage, the unidentified lady is seen taking out her razor and getting down to work on the 42st Street station platform in Manhattan. On camera, at least 10 other people can be spotted, sitting next to her or standing on the platform waiting for their trains.

The video caused mixed feelings on social media, with many vexed that the woman would shave in a public area. Twitter user @Janeytoon wasn't happy with the display, commenting saying "I can barely remember to take myself to work never mind a razor and shaving cream! Just get up a bit earlier and do it in the privacy of your own home".

Twitter user @Irenegi61742903 also didn't hold back, writing "That is disgusting, why should the public have to look at this". She was joined by @Evelyn29521324 who simply put "So disgusting!"

However, others stood up for the mystery woman, blaming everyday sexism for the attention. @Createinlit wrote: "#everydaysexism: Society demands you be hair-free but is *shocked* to see you removing hair. KEEP THE HAIR LADIES. Get on with your life instead - as men do."

In addition, some people online insisted that the video was not worth any amount of fuss, with @OllieJim77 admitting that it was a little odd, but ultimately nothing to be worried about.
