Man jumps off 11th floor balcony of cruise ship, gets lifetime ban from Royal Caribbean

When you sign up for a cruise, you get a luxurious ride to a sun-drenched picturesque location. At least, that's what the ads promise. If you run into bad weather, get attacked by Somalian pirates or plow into a glacier, you probably won't have a five-star experience. Also, the other passengers might be obnoxious morons.

Speaking of which: 27-year-old Nick Naydev jumped off the 11th story balcony of the Symphony Of The Seas ship,, which was headed for the Bahamas. The passenger's friends filmed him doing the reckless stunt, because of course they did. Naydev, who hails from Vancouver, Washington, then shared the footage on Instagram, hoping to get sweet, sweet attention. He succeeded.

In the video, Naydev climbs on top of the balcony railing and grins at the camera. As his buddies crack up and exclaim "F***ing Nick," he leaps into the sea. The camera operator did not tilt down enough to capture the moment he struck water, but obviously there was not a chance to get another take.

According to other media outlets, a second video was uploaded that showed Nick swimming in the sea, and his friends being scolded by cruise ship officials. However, there is no sign of this footage on his Instagram page, as of this writing.

In the comments, Naydev claimed he was still drunk from the night before (shocker) and he estimates he fell a distance of 110 to 120 feet. Luckily, the daredevil survived, but the stunt came with a cost: "When I sobered up my back started hurting pretty bad," wrote Naydev. "Could barely walk for three days and could barely sleep from the pain."

Afterward, the troublemaker was picked up by a rescue boat, brought back onto the ocean liner by cops, and told to gather his belongings and bounce. In an Instagram comment, Naydev stated that it cost $200 to go back to Miami. But getting internet famous for doing a stupid, dangerous stunt? Priceless!

The camera operator,  Konstantin Kryachun, told Yahoo: "He's jumped from those kind of heights before, and we didn't really care about the consequences with the cruise company. We just wanted to get a video of it and make it go viral." Well, I guess they get their wish, since the video has more than 118,000 views on The Gram.

As a result of his actions, Naydev is banned from traveling on Royal Caribbean ocean liners for the rest of his life. A Royal Caribbean spokesperson told the Sun,"This was stupid and reckless behavior and he and his companions have been banned from ever sailing with us again. We are exploring legal action."

But hey, it was all worth it for these glowing comments: "Stupid idiot." "Poster child for birth control." "This is why we can't have nice things, dumbass ppl ruin shit for everyone else. Hope that landing made him sterile, so he'll never have to procreate and spread his abomination."
