Mom gives daughter Christmas gift with unintentionally NSFW detail

There is something awfully cringe-worthy about parents being dirty. As a kid, it's more than likely that you've seen your mom or dad crack some sort of dirty joke when they were with their friends and it probably made your skin crawl. I don't know what it is, despite the fact that they are fully grown adults, we just don't want to ever view our parents being crass or crude. However, there is also nothing funnier than an unintentional dirty joke, even when it comes from one of your parents.

I can imagine that when you're a parent, Christmas gets increasingly difficult as your child grows up. When your offspring is just an infant, you can literally buy them anything and they will go mental. But when your child hits their teenage years, presents need to be shiny, involve some form of technology, and more importantly - they need to be expensive.

One parent, who appeared to be battling this very conundrum, ended up messing up in the most spectacular of ways. User snowy_boy uploaded the following photo on to Reddit. In the photo, you can see a thermos that his mother bought for his sister for Christmas. Trying to be cute and seemingly buying the thermos with the purest of thoughts, the mother got the thermos engraved with her daughter's initials. However, the abbreviation which was produced is, well, unfortunate.

I genuinely believe the funniest thing about this is the fact that the mother didn't notice. Such is the purity of the parent, she genuinely thought that her daughter would love this gift. However, while the slip up was no doubt embarrassing for those involved, Reddit users were quick to applaud it, with one user saying:

"If I had a sister with those initials, monogrammed items are the ONLY gifts she's getting from me for life."

As one Redditor pointed out, a gift is worth more than just material value.

"It's the thought that counts, and the lack of thought that makes it memorable."

Another user thought of a brilliant, if not slightly disturbing, use of the thermos.

"Take a big ol’ swig of egg nog out of it, give yourself a milk moustache, and watch everyone squirm."

However, some people believed that the mother wasn't as innocent as she made out to be with, with one commenter saying:

"Mom has secretly been waiting since birth to arrange the initials this way."

This isn't the first incident of accidental crudeness by a family member at Christmas. Twitter user Rob Cook received a lovely Christmas card which seemingly told him to chill out on his masturbation habit.

Lovely stuff. While we all want to believe the mom in question genuinely had innocent thoughts at heart, she must've seen how the thermos was going to look when she was designing it. Still, I bet it provided a few laughs over the festive period.
