A teen shared a message to his former "best friend" after finding out that they weren't who they claimed to be.

Lawson Spolansky, from New York, took to TikTok to reveal that an important part of his life was all a lie thanks to a scheme plotted by his parents.

Taking to the video-sharing platform, Spolansky recalled how he found out that his childhood best friend was merely an actor hired by his family to be his friend in 2012.

"How I found out my entire decade relationship was a lie," he started.

"So in 2012, I was... having many social and behavioral issues - I just wasn't wanting [sic] to go to school," he continued. "I was five at the time [and] I was having so many issues."

The TikToker then went on to state that after he was sent home from school for "throwing pencils" at the teacher, just a few days later, he was introduced to Dexter, whom he met on the playground.

The two quickly formed a close friendship, which had a drastic impact on Spolansky's previously disruptive behavior at school.

However, just a few years later in 2018, things started to get a little strange.

After canceling a global trip, which included stops in Paris, Spain, and then California, Spolansky discovered that his aunt ended up going on vacation with them instead - a crossover that he did not expect.

"This is not right," he recalled saying to his father who had shown him the picture of his aunt with his friend and their family. "I immediately called Dexter and said 'what the f*** is going on?' and he said [that it was] a miscommunication, directly quoting my dad."

A few years later, Spolansky's boyfriend at the time was working as pool boy at Dexter's mom's house. While working there, the boyfriend realized that his employer wasn't Dexter's mom at all, but his agent.

Spolansky then learned that his aunt was friends with Dexter's real mother and had paid her to get Dexter to be friends with him.

"His mom was his manager," he continued in the TikTok video. "I then call up my aunt and ask 'what is this?' and she confirms everything."

Spolansky went on to open up about the impact this revelation had on him, stating that he was "broken" and had "severe trust issues."

"I thought I had a real friend, but when you find out this 'friend' was paid for you..."

The TikToker concluded the video with a personal message to his former "best friend" saying: "Dexter, if you're seeing this, what the f*** were you thinking?"

And as for his mischievous aunt, Spolansky said that he couldn't find it in his heart to forgive her.

Hundreds of other TikTokers gathered under the video, which has now been viewed over 1.3 million times, to express their opinions on the matter.

"What in the Truman show is this dude omg that is insane," wrote one user while another added: "I’m sorry...at five...I feel like... girl I don’t have words honey."

A third urged him to write a book about it all stating: "Can you take them to court for mental anguish and damages?? Like this is absolutely wild. Definitely write a book about this."

What would you do if this happened to you?
