While watching shows like Game of Thrones, we tend to think of the stars as having lives that don't even slightly resemble our own. After all, do we spend our time mixing with fellow A-listers on film sets? Nope. Do we prance down red carpets like we own them? Nope. Do we know the ending to one of the biggest fantasy drama shows ever to air? No, we certainly do not - and we're not resentful about it at all...

However, it turns out that, although they may get Hollywood perks, stars still have to put up with most of the normal things in life - and this includes being mortified when talking about sex with their parents.

In a recent interview, Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams - otherwise known as Arya Stark - revealed the one raunchy scene on the show that she was almost banned from seeing by her parents when she was younger.

Speaking to The Austrailian, the now 21-year-old claimed that both her mother, and her co-star Sophie Turner's mother, wanted to shield them from the TV show's graphic sex and violence scenes, and debated banning the girls from attending a cast read-through of a scene featuring two girls "going at it"

Viewers have speculated that the scene in question came from the seventh episode of the fourth season, titled You Win or You Die. The memorable moment saw Littlefinger train two young women, who were auditioning to join his brothel, in the art of oral sex.

"The sex was just quite embarrassing and awkward for us," Maisie, who was 12 when she was cast, told The Australian. "Most of the gory stuff I was part of, and it’s not scary when you’re there shooting it. No one’s really getting their face ripped off. So it’s quite exciting really." Ironically, she added that, rather than putting her and Sophie off, their mothers' worry only served to "pique" their interest.

In addition, the young actress revealed that she often watches the show with her family - including her grandmother who resorts to drinking to get through the awkward scenes. "Bless her, my mum just plies her with more and more gin," said Maisie.

It is not the first time that oral sex scenes have played a controversial role in young cast members' lives. Back in 2017, Sophie Turner - who plays Sansa Stark - told The Sunday Times that she first found out about oral sex from the show. "The first time I ever found out about oral sex was from reading the Game of Thrones script. I said, 'Wow! People do that?' That's fascinating! I guess that was my sex education," she said.

Last month, Maisie finished filming on the eighth and last season of Game of Thrones, posting a farewell message to Arya and the series on her Instagram page. Uploading a picture of her white trainers soaked in (fake, we hope) blood, she wrote: "goodbye belfast. goodbye arya. goodbye game of thrones. what a joy i’ve had. here’s to the adventures to come #lastwomanstanding #barely#immasleepforthenextfouryears#justkiddingidontsleep"

Let's hope that Maisie's grandmother gets a large bottle of gin to make it through the final season.
