In every new relationship, there's a chemical reaction happening deep in our brains that psychologists like to refer to as 'limerence'. As we spend more and more time around our new loves; the giggles, the PDA and the butterflies inside our stomach all being defining features of limerence as we start to fall in love, it feels like life couldn't be better.

But within a few short years, that endorphin bomb begins to subside.

Before too long, those quirky features you used to love about them become irritating. The passion's just not there, and if you're unfortunate, there's simply not enough to keep the relationship going. It's a sad fact of life, and for me, it's happening to me right now with McDonald's.

As a child, I used to love tucking into french fries, chicken nuggets and the like. As I grew older, so did my tastes: graduating to Big Macs, Quarter Pounders and the frankly underrated Filet O'Fish as I graduated from high school and entered college. Pizza Hut, KFC and more all tried to catch my attention, but my head was never turned; instead, staying loyal and in love with the Big Tasty, the McChicken, the McFlurry and more.

That was, until McDonald's really pulled their thumbs out, and gave me something I never knew I wanted. The funny thing is, it's something really simple, too. Something that McDonald's could have introduced at any point, but chose to wait until now to give me. I'm very surprised, though I shouldn't be.

Behold, regular visitors to the shade underneath the Golden Arches: the Bacon Double Cheeseburger. Those of you who regularly take trips to Burger King will know exactly what joys await you with the combination of beef, bacon and cheese, but now, you can have that joy at McDonald's, complete with the pickle and sauce that comes with your regular double cheeseburger. Truly a great day.

This burger is something that British food lovers won't have seen at any point in their country, but that changes today: the Bacon Double Cheeseburger will make its way to those soils, but in 1,270 locations across the United Kingdom, you will be only able to find them at 64 locations in the country. For now, at the very least.

If (so, when) this venture proves successful, then we'll see them in more places. People, predictably, are ecstatic with the news, taking to Twitter to do so, but some people were weirdly willing to make something as joyous as bacon cheeseburgers about Brexit.

Well, there you have it, McDonald's lovers. Head underneath your Golden Arches and support the Bacon Double Cheeseburger. We don't know if it's particularly limited edition, but you do want to give the impression that you actually. Y'know. Want it around.

The Bacon Double Cheeseburger will retail at around £1.99 per burger, and I won't judge you in the slightest if you decide to order two at once. As long as there's enough for me.
