Meghan Markle should have been floating on air over the past few months after marrying Prince Harry and being welcomed into the British royal family with open arms. Sadly though, it is doubtful that the Duchess of Sussex has been able to enjoy the honeymoon period of her romance with her new husband, due to unending drama from her American family.

In the wake of the royal wedding, Meghan's father has done interview after interview about her, making one wild claim after another, including that she is "terrified" of her new life and that Princess Diana would have "loathed" the way she is treating him.

However, rumour has it, the 37-year-old is ready to bury the hatchet with her father and has planned a 'secret US reunion' with him later this month. The new member of the royal family is said to be preparing for an emotional reunion with Thomas Markle, aiming to reunite with him on a solo visit to America in late August.

According to British newspaper The Mirror, a source has claimed that the 74-year-old  is understood to be "keeping two dates free at the end of the month" to meet his daughter and friends believe that it could be the first move in ending the Markle family rift.

The source told The Mirror: "The possibility of a reunion has been discussed and Meghan looks set to incorporate it into her trip. Thomas is apparently keeping two dates free at the end of the month with a view to travelling from his home in Mexico to LA to meet his daughter. The location and exact dates will be top secret for both their sakes. It is a very sensitive time for them, but the intent seems to be to heal the rift."

Thomas - who reportedly did not attend the royal wedding back in May due to alleged health problems - is said to be "delighted" that Meghan finally wants to talk to him. However, it remains to be seen if the rumour mill is right about her wanting to forgive her father for his misdeeds.

Just days before The Mirror made claims about a secret US meet-up, the Daily Mail alleged that a "close friend of Meghan's" had told them that a reconciliation between the two was not going to happen any time soon.  "A reconciliation is completely off the table at the moment," the source said. "There's no chance right now - he's been a complete embarrassment. They've had problems for some time – from before she met Prince Harry."

The unidentified source added: "She's amazed by what's happened but is taking what he says with a grain of salt. 'The Royal Family isn't as upset as you'd think either. Nothing any of them [the Markle family] say has any real consequence and they [Meghan and Harry] have more important things to focus on."

So, will Meghan visit her dad and forgive and forget? At the end of the day, let's hope she does whatever is right for her.
