This weekend, the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle delighted fans across the globe as millions tuned in to witness the pair tie the knot. Tens of thousands turned up in Windsor to watch the event in person, while others sneaked a glimpse at the big day from their TV screens or (in a very millennial fashion) interpreted the events through everyone's live tweeting about who had the best dress.

However, there were some behind-the-scenes goings-on that not everybody was privy to on Saturday.

Not a lot of people noticed, for instance, that Bishop Michael Curry delivered his impassioned speech from the screen of an iPad, or that the Duchess of Cambridge rocked up in an outfit that she's worn not once, not twice, but three times before on public occasions.

But neither of those compare to the elaborate "prank" that Prince William decided to pull on his little brother - and it's only thanks to a few guests that we know what actually happened.

The prank went down after the main event, while guests were celebrating the reception at Windsor’s Frogmore House. Meghan and Harry were reported to have ducked out of the party at around midnight, "shattered and madly in love," at which point William rolled out his mischievous scheme...

Of attaching a ladder to the back of their car?

Guests were apparently "floored" at the sight of the 35-year-old royal tying a ladder to his brother's vehicle, and the event was only made even more confusing by William's explanation for his actions. "Apparently Harry fell off a ladder recently while changing a light bulb for Meghan and hurt his arm," a guest explained. "So Wills tied a ladder to the back of the car, which nearly floored a few people."

It's not known how exactly Harry took the "prank", but - considering some of the other things he's had to deal with in the run-up to his big day - it probably wasn't too big a deal.

In the days following the wedding, a few more details have emerged that we were formally unaware of.

Meghan Markle's father, Thomas, for instance, did get to enjoy the wedding - albeit on television - and said of the event: "My baby looks beautiful and she looks very happy. I wish I were there and I wish them all my love and all happiness."

Thomas Markle was taken ill in the week before the wedding, and his attendance was uncertain for a number of days before Meghan confirmed: "Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health."

It is now rumored that the newlywed couple might pay a visit to Meghan's father in Mexico in the near future, too.

Regardless of how strange William's prank may have been (if it can even be considered a prank at all), it's sweet to see that the brothers get along well and are there for one another during milestone events in their lives.

Having said that, let's hope he hasn't left any surprises for Harry to find on his honeymoon...
